Orlando Seale and the Swell

ORLANDO SEALE AND THE SWELL started out as a collaboration between Orlando's band and orchestral players from The Southbank Sinfonia. For the Sinfonians it was an opportunity to explore a very different sort of playing and creating from their orchestral work, while for me (orlando)...It was like being given access to a new musical landscape.

We all loved it so we kept playing together and became The Swell, making songs of night and the city, the lost and found on the underground, the club-card redeemers seeking salvation in supermarkets, and all those beautiful morons like ourselves stumbling about our dear city.
Our single Dance Little Man was recorded with Julian SImmons at DIn Studio. You can hear the track as well as another one, These Streets here: www.soundcloud.com/orlandoseale
We have just recorded an EP with Kris Harris from Story Books which we hope to release in the coming months.
We recently did a live session for Tom Robinson on his BBC6 Music show which you can hear here: www.soundcloud.com/orlandoseale/bbc6
Last year was a great one for us, playing at festivals such as Sundance (O2), Green Man, Wilderness, Winterwell, No Direction Home, and How The Light Gets In (HAY), and at some great London venues: the ICA in London, The Old Vic Tunnels, The Union Chapel, The Tabernacle, Shunt, Favela Chic, 93 Feet East, The Macbeth, The Troubadour, The Slaughtered Lamb, The Lexington, The Garage, The Barfly, The Bedroom bar, and others. We even made it over to France and here's a video of that adventure: http://vimeo.com/27515353
2013 has started well with a fantastic night supporting Tom Robinson at the Tabernacle:
