Tantz + Halcyon (Folk Remix) @ The Forge
Two For Joy presents The Folk Ghetto – Luring Touring Bands to Town. We value quality musicianship on real instruments. The Forge is the natural home for such music, having, in our opinion, one of the finest acoustics in town. Come and HEAR the music you want to listen to. We aim to promote bands from across the country and the world, bringing the best in quirky, quality and exceptional Folk, Roots, and World Bands – be they anything from Appalachian to Quebecois, Traditional to Experimental, Gypsy to Germanic.
April at The Forge:
Tantz - Trekking the Mighty M1 from Leeds come this rabble-rousing klezmer packed party starters.
Halcyon - Proving the Scottish Folk Scene is a thriving melting pot of talent, alive, kicking AND comtemporary, Halcyon present some heavy weight Folk Remix. It's their first outing in London, and this a project to keep an eye on. Exciting things to come.....
About the Bands:
HALCYON are musicians/producers Barry Reid, John Somerville and Adam Sutherland. Packing a big punch with a mix of Electro/Techno/Big beat sounds alongside live instrumentation, vocal samples and bundles of raw energy. Chunky bass lines and beats, cutting edge programming and arrangements laced with fiddle, accordion, synths and guitar are the epitome of the Halcyon sound, forging musical arrangements and sculpting sounds that not only fill the dance floor but draw the listener in.
Tantz are a remarkable collective of talented equals making the most of traditional material in a truly modern way and by the end of their set they’d earned a serious dance response from a happy and sweaty canteen crowd. Tony Benjamin, Venue Magazine
